Realizzato dalla Popy nel 1975, il Grendizer è sicuramente uno dei jumbo più amati e ricercati dai collezionisti di tutto il mondo.
Prende spunto dall'omonima serie televisiva Ufo Robot Grendizer, ideata nel 1973 dal Maestro Go Nagai e prodotta in 74 episodi dalla Toei Animation negli anni 1975-1977.
Released by Popy in 1975, Grendizer is definitely one of the most popular and sought-after jumbo by collectors around the world.
Inspired by the television series Ufo Robot Grendizer, created in 1973 by Go Nagai and 74 episodes produced by Toei Animation in 1975-1977.



A mia conoscenza ne esistono due versioni, che si distinguono tra loro grazie a dei piccoli particolari.
Il più evidente è l’adesivo della cinta: infatti nella prima versione la scritta Ufo è di colore blu, mentre nella seconda versione la scritta è di colore oro come lo sfondo.
To my knowledge there are two versions, which differ among themselves thanks to the small details.
The most obvious is the adhesive of the town: in the first version the word Ufo is blue in color, while the second version is the gold color as the background.





Altro piccolo particolare è l’altezza: la prima versione è di qualche millimetro più bassa rispetto alla seconda poiché probabilmente è stato usato uno stampo diverso.
Anche le strisce rosse del bacino sono leggermente differenti, nella prima versione sono più sottili, mentre nella seconda risultano più spesse, così come la V del petto, leggermente più larga per la prima versione.
Il Grendizer misura 61 cm di altezza per 26 cm di larghezza.

A differenza della versione Mattel Shogun, l’originale Popy possiede entrambi i pugni e non lo sparamissili nel braccio sinistro.
Il pugno destro è sparante grazie ad un meccanismo a molla.

Cosa alquanto strana sono i 14 missili in dotazione…molto belli nel complesso ma totalmente inutili perché non c’è alcun meccanismo per spararli.
La sua testa è reclinabile all’indietro grazie ad un meccanismo inserito nel collo; tuttociò perché era previsto l’alloggiamento all’interno dello Spaizer Jumbo e lo sguardo del Grendizer doveva risultare frontale, in posizione d'attacco e non rivolto verso il basso. Mentre nello Shogun Mattel la testa veniva collegata al busto tramite pressione a caldo, permettendo solamente il movimento orizzontale.

Circa le armi in dotazione il Grendizer esce di serie con due alabarde-arken, che unite tra loro misurano 34 centimetri.

Le pedane reggi missili delle gambe possono alloggiare fino a cinque unità, mentre quelle delle spalle solamente due.
Le differenze con il Mattel Shogun sono molte: la V rossa del petto è realizzata in pvc e inserita con pressione a caldo nel torace del Popy, mentre è un semplice adesivo per la versione Mattel.
Anelli rossi in Abs per le ginocchia della versione Popy e adesivi per la Mattel.
La striscia gialla del bacino Popy è scolpita, mentre nella Mattel è adesiva.
